Yarra Bank Reserve

Xuan and I headed down to the Yarra Bank Reserve in Burnley (An inner city suburb of Melbourne) yesterday afternoon to get a bit of outdoorsy time. I’ve never been to this part of the Yarra River so it was nice to get out for a walk and take a few photos.

The park has a nice walking track along the river, a public barbecue area and a small playground. Here are a few photos I took on the day. Photos 2 and 9 were taken by Xuan.

Port Campbell National Park

On our way back home from Warrnambool we decided to take the senic route and drive down Victoria’s famous Great Ocean Road. I wanted to see and photograph the beautiful rock formations along the coast in and around the Port Campbell National Park area.

We saw the Bay of Islands, Loch Ard Gorge, the Grotto, London Arch in and the famous Twelve Apostles. We also made the walk down the Gibson Steps to the beach and got our feet wet. The area is known for notoriously rough waves though so we didn’t go in for a swim. Still, the sights alone were worth the walk.

An Overnighter In Warrnambool

On Friday Xuan and I headed to Warrnambool for an overnight stay. The holidays were coming to an end so we thought it would be good to get away for the last time before going back to work.

We had nice and relaxing time taking in the sights and visiting a few of the tourist attractions. We also took boat ride on Lake Pertobe which was fun. Most of the photos below were taken there.

A Sunny Day In Venus Bay

On our way back home from the New Years Eve trip to Wilsons Promontory we decided to stop at Venus Bay. We had breakfast at a local cafe then headed to the beach to soak up the sun and catch some pippies (aka surf clams).

We had a lot of fun catching the pippies and ended up with about 15 kilograms worth of the little suckers. Enough for everyone who wanted some. I had a few for supper that night and they were pretty tasty too.

Anyways, I’ll leave you with a few photos from the day. These were all taken by my girlfriend Xuan. She took some pretty amazing photos.

New Years Eve In Wilsons Prom

A group of us headed down to Wilsons Prom (Wilsons Promontory) in Victoria to spend New Years Eve. We stayed in a house only a few minutes from the Wilsons Promontory National Park. Plenty of booze, food and good company made for a memorable way to say goodbye to 2007 and celebrate the beginning of 2008.

We stayed for a couple of nights so we also had time to visit some of the attractions the National Park had on offer including the famous white sands of Squeaky Beach. When you walk on the sand in your bare feet the sand makes this squeaky sound. It’s really quite bizarre.
