A Sunny Day In Venus Bay

On our way back home from the New Years Eve trip to Wilsons Promontory we decided to stop at Venus Bay. We had breakfast at a local cafe then headed to the beach to soak up the sun and catch some pippies (aka surf clams).

We had a lot of fun catching the pippies and ended up with about 15 kilograms worth of the little suckers. Enough for everyone who wanted some. I had a few for supper that night and they were pretty tasty too.

Anyways, I’ll leave you with a few photos from the day. These were all taken by my girlfriend Xuan. She took some pretty amazing photos.

New Years Eve In Wilsons Prom

A group of us headed down to Wilsons Prom (Wilsons Promontory) in Victoria to spend New Years Eve. We stayed in a house only a few minutes from the Wilsons Promontory National Park. Plenty of booze, food and good company made for a memorable way to say goodbye to 2007 and celebrate the beginning of 2008.

We stayed for a couple of nights so we also had time to visit some of the attractions the National Park had on offer including the famous white sands of Squeaky Beach. When you walk on the sand in your bare feet the sand makes this squeaky sound. It’s really quite bizarre.

Picnic In The Botanical Gardens

A group of us spent Boxing Day having a picnic lunch in Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens. Great weather, cheese, crackers and sandwiches made for an enjoyable day. It was also an opportunity for to take a few snaps.

Gravity Hill & Mount Macedon

Me and the missus drove up to Mount Macedon yesterday to do a little sight seeing and have a bit of a walk around. I also wanted to show Xuan ‘Gravity Hill’ which is a seemingly uphill section of road on Straws Lane that you roll up when you put your car into neutral. The road totally looks like it’s going uphill but when you slip the car into neutral it begins to creep upwards. It’s totally freaky.

We also visited the Memorial Cross which was erected to commemorate the members of the Australian Defences Forces who died in World War 1. The photo below was taken in the gardens surrounding the Memorial Cross site. I thought the rain drops on the leaves would make for a cool photo.

A Saturday In Sorrento

A group of us headed down to Sorrento last Saturday for a barbeque. Lucky for us it was a beautiful 25°C Melbourne day, perfect for the first day of the Australian summer.

We had a massive barbeque feast, a few of beers and kicked the soccer ball around a little. We then spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach soaking up the sunshine. So yeah, it was mad day.

Below are some of the photos taken on the day. The weird photo of the thing that looks like a transparent piece of poo I think is some sort of jelly fish. Well, that’s my guess anyway.
