Blue Hour In Saigon

At around 6:15pm today I looked out of the window of my apartment and noticed the sky was a beautiful blue colour so I just had to grab the digital camera and capture the moment.

The blue hour, as I just discovered today, comes from a French expression which refers to the hour between the daylight and darkness. So yeah, that’s why I titled this post ‘Blue Hour In Saigon’ just in case you were wondering.

A Saigon Sunrise

From time to time I end up going to bed just after sunrise after having a big night out on the town. An upside to this is I get to see some of the most spectacular sunrises from the 15th floor of my apartment in Binh Thanh district.

Check out the photo I took a couple of weeks ago with my Canon IXY 1000 digital camera. How cool is that!

Firecrackers Going Off

Check out this crazy video clip of firecrackers going off outside Chi’s house on Huy and Chi’s wedding day just this Saturday. These things were so loud it wasn’t funny. The neighbours on the street pretty much all came out to check out what was going on.

Saigon Yellow Rose

I’ve been experimenting with taking close up shots of things with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W50 6.0 megapixel digital camera with the flash and macro option turned on. This has really produced some very interesting results and all without the aid of colour filters.

I have posted two of my favourite photos I took over the Tet period here in Saigon. I have saved them in 1280×1024 resolution so they can be used as desktop wallpaper. These photos have not been digitally enhanced either.

Attempt At Being Artistic

Just a short post today. I just wanted to post up a few photo close ups I took recently. It’s just an attempt at being artistic and all.

The first photo is of the base of a plant Amber gave me in Decemeber last year. It looks totally trippy doesn’t it? The second two are close ups of flowers another friend gave me the other day but I’m sure you can see that. These photos aren’t digitally modified either apart from slight adjustments in brightness and contrast.
