Vietnamese Broken Rice
I had dinner at Ha Long Bay restaurant tonight. They are located on 82 Victoria Street in Richmond and specialise in Vietnamese cuisine but they also have Chinese dishes as well.
Tonight I opted for com tam (cơm tấm) which is Vietnamese for broken rice. It was served with a grilled pork chop, thinly shredded pork and pork skin (bì), fried egg, pork meat loaf, picked carrot and sliced cucumber. It wasn’t the best com tam I’ve had but it wasn’t too bad either especially since it only set me back AUD$8.50 (about USD$8.13). With the soaring food prices in Australia it’s getting harder and harder to find a decent meal under AUD$10.00 these days.

Hi Kham,
Wooo is it that hard to find a decent meal for less than $10 in Aussie? But then again, I think that I’ve heard from someone that food prices are pretty costly over there.
Would you say that Australia is a good place to migrate to? Did you study over there?
It’s definitely getting a lot harder these days. Food prices have gone up quite a bit in the last few years.
I think Australia is a great place to migrate to. The bigger cities like Melbourne and Sydney are very multicultural. I guess that’s one of the reasons why so many International students choose to study here.
Yes, I did study in Australia but I’ve pretty much been here all my life. My family migrated here in 1980.
