Christmas In Vietnam

Christmas is absolutely crazy in Vietnam! Well, it is in Ho Chi Minh City anyway. It’s like everyone just comes out and crams into the city all at once with motorbikes and all. In some places you can’t even move without having to wade through a seemingly endless ocean of people. It’s like a mix of New Years Eve in the Melbourne city and the Lunar New Year festival at Footscray Park all at once. Totally crazy! Check out the photos below.

The third photo gives you a glimpse of how it’s like and that’s just with me standing on the outskirts. It’s like 20 times worse in the middle of it all. It’s that full on but it really needs to be seen to be believed. The first photo was taken a few days before Christmas near my apartment. Gives you an idea of how it is around where I live. The second photo is of the Shadow Pub (A bar that I regularly visit) Christmas cake. The cake was a 1 metre long fat log. That photo doesn’t show how big this thing really was. It wasn’t bad tasting either. Anyways, I’m off to bed. Hope all you guys had a great Christmas. I sure had an interesting one.

Sorry about the quality of the photos. They were taken on my camera phone.

Singapore Stopover

I landed in Singapore at around 5:30am on Saturday morning. Oh and I was upgraded to business class for free! Now that was an awesome experience! Spacious seats, great food and wine and fantastic service. “Mr Tran, would you like something to drink?”… “Mr Tran, is there something I can get you?”… Ha ha it was mad!!!

Anyways, Singapore was great. Fantastic food, great shopping and some mad bars. I didn’t take many photos this time round though. Just a few from the hotel glass elevator and some around the city. But yeah, check them out.

Farewell Drinks At Footscray Pub

Yep, it was good old Footscay Pub again. Seems like it’s starting to become a tradition now that the night before anyone heads overseas they spend their last night getting wasted there. Good food and reasonably priced booze. A combination that just can’t be beat. So yeah, that’s what we did.

Anyways, as usual the guys got me totally trashed. Towards the end of the night I like walked off to the toilet, expelled the tasty chicken pizza I had earlier, came back out and was made to down a few more beers. “C’mon Kham it’s your last night, it’s only half a beer… c’mon man”, was repeatedly uttered. My pleas of “Please guys I can’t, I like just chucked”, didn’t seem to help. After several “C’mon it’s only half” beers it was time to call it a night. There was still a little pizza left in me so I freed that as well on the side of the road. I’ll leave it at that.

So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Another memorable night at the local pub that I’m not going to forget in a hurry. Thanks fellas.

Off To Vietnam Again

Well it’s nearly time for me to head back to Vietnam again. The last couple of weeks have just totally wizzed by. It’s like nearly 3:00am now and I’m thinking like at this time on Saturday morning I’ll be in the air headed for Singapore for a day (of shopping and fun stuff) before hopping on another flight to Saigon on Sunday morning. Isn’t it just like just totally exciting?!!

Anyways, I’ll leave you with a nice quote and picture I was forwarded in an email the other day. The quote was actually part of a longer paragraph about love, life and happiness etc but I thought it was a bit too mushy and shit so I just took out what I thought was the gist of it all.

Every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never get back.

Two Weeks In Melbourne

As most of my friends now know I’ve been in Melbourne now for over a week. Just a bit of break from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. It’s been great catching up with friends and seeing that everyone’s doing well and all.

I missed out on Dede’s birthday at Philip Island in November though which was shame. Check out the photo of Nia fishing. Ha ha, now he thinks he’s cool and shit. Hats off to B for taking that photo. Nice work indeed.

Anyways, that’s pretty much it for now. I’ve got a week left in Melbournia before heading back to Vietnam so gonna enjoy it the best I can. So yeah, I better get to it… Ta ta!
